Not a normal average day but a special day for a logger. Most days go as expected but now and then things come up where you need to make exceptions. Today is that day this Thursday the 17th of December 2009, because it’s my graduation day. Mark my husband who is the logger which I am dedicating this blog about had already asked for an early day. Normally he rides in a four door truck we all call a crummy and for good cause as you can imagine with a group of six men all wet and covered with mud nightly, how that might make a vehicle smell a bit; anyway today he was going to drive himself which was necessary so he could leave early to get home in time to get ready for my special evening. Do you think that is the end of the story? well your right!. As soon as he comes in the door only a half hour later than expected. He begins the story I am sitting here writing. Of why the day did not go as planned this is what he said. “I started up the hill towards the summit when the check engine light flashed, then the oil pressure went down it looked like a broken oil pump. I made it to a resturant where the crew was and was directed to the nearest shop to leave it. Luckily catching the crew I was able to get a ride to work but that was not the plan because now how was I to get home on time, thanks to a man named Grubby who also had to leave early I got the needed ride back when needed. He said that man has been a lifesaver on more than one occassion.”

I found my glassware is not garage sale material
August 4th, 2009So I’m working on pricing a china cabinet full of depression glass and other items I may part with but these are not garage sale items so that’s why the section under garage sales is still empty. This blog is a great idea so people can request what they would like to see available online – actually this site is great for shopping because of the link to quixtar which is my favorite place to shop, of course that is because I am a rep for the company too, but really it’s about quality and trust and mail order. I will be listing items here that I’ve used and trust and know to be of good value. So check back often for updates.
Surviving the flood
July 22nd, 2009They said it was a 500 year flood the first time Vernonia was hit by overflowing rivers in 1996, but 2006 it became the 10 year flood wait then 2008 Dec 3rd now what every two years. All the houses around town are becomming two stories making very deep basements not for living. It seems as if we should just have parking lots placed under all these homes to be used by summertime outdoor markets – “That’s just a suggestion.” anyway the town never stops and working together things after a flood get back to normal within a few weeks at least thats how it looks on the outside. We will get some inside stories of how the people of Vernonia really fare the crippling freak floods. For community support visit http://www.coastalwoodnest.com
